Shelton Sanford
Senior Pastor
Dr. Shelton P. Sanford is a native of Macon, Georgia. He graduated from Mercer University in 1972 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business and Finance. He attended Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, MS. where he earned his Master of Divinity Degree in 1978 and his Doctor of Ministry Degree in 1984. Dr. Sanford has served three pastorates in the Presbyterian Church in America – Thomson Memorial Presbyterian Church in Centreville, Ms (1978-1980), Faith Presbyterian Church in Brookhaven, Ms (1980-1984), and Westminster Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill, SC (1985- present). He has served several terms as chairman of the Mission to the World Committee of the General Assembly of the PCA. He also serves on the Board of Christ’s College, a liberal arts college in Taipei, Taiwan. Dr. Sanford teaches in the D. Min. program at Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte, NC.Dr. Sanford was married to Anne Burns Sanford until her death in 2006. He has three grown children – Connie, Lucy and Palmer -- and two grandchildren – Will McIntyre and Burns Brazzell. The McIntyres (Connie, JR, and Will) and the Brazzels (Lucy, Kenny, and Burns) live in Rock Hill and are active in the ministries of Westminster. Palmer and his wife Holly live in the Atlanta area and are members of the Church of the Apostles.
Dr. Sanford recently married Mary Ann Embry Crowell of Rock Hill. Mary Ann has one daughter, Mollye, who lives in Greenville, SC and is a member of Downtown Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Greenville. The Sanfords consider themselves extremely blessed to have such a wonderful family.
